The District 9 meeting was called to order on Oct. 10, 2010 at 1:19pm at Z’s Club in McPherson. There were 29 members, 5 Co. Reps., and 6 guests present. A moment of Silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

State News: See State Report.

Awareness Report: Pat has been talking with a property owner in Salina who has been interested in having one of the Motorcycle Awareness highway signs put up there. She will let us know more at the next meeting.

Products Report: Karen reported that they have the black “We Support Our Troops” t-shirts. They have ordered more of the red ones. A motion was made and seconded to order more of the neon green Motorcycle Awareness t-shirts. Motion carried.

Website Report: Kevin reported that website should be updated this evening completely including pictures from the Districts Casino Night which was last night.

Old Business: Tony gave an update on the “WatchDog” Cancer Relief fund. Janet reported that our District Casino Night was again a success. Elisa reported that Hannah Thomas has been declared “cancer free” by her doctors! Donations were made for the Mid South MILE baskets. Mike reported on the Marion County Toy Run. Keena reported on the McPherson County Toy Run. Bill reported on the Mitchell and Jewell County Toy Run.

Ron reported that the Cloud County Toy Run was again a success.

New Business: Discussed different options to help raise money to purchase a electric wheelchair for a lady in Hillsboro. Her daughter is graduating next May, and supporters are trying to help her raise money for this so that she may attend the graduation and be able to self propel herself around for that. Will bring ideas to the table at our next meeting.

McPherson County Toy Run- Nov. 27th with staging at Wal-Mart in McPherson at 12:00pm. Door Prizes were won by Elisa, Doug, Tammy, Keena, and Jerry.

September

The District 9 meeting was called to order at 1:14 pm on Sept. 12, 2010 at TPJ’s in Salina. There were 25 members, 6 Co. Reps., and 6 guests present. A moment of silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.

Awareness Report: Tony reported that one sign is ready and are working on poles, brackets, and frames for the rest.

Products Report: Karen reported that we have more of the Motorcycle Awareness patches, and still have t-shirts, and signs. A motion was made, seconded, and carried to order more of the red “We Support Our Troops” t-shirts.

Website Report: Kevin reported that the website is updated now and has over a hundred pictures from the Labor Day Rally.

Old Business: Jon reported that the Cloud Co. Toy Run is Oct 2nd. Staging is at Airport Park, across from Walmart, at noon. Discussed food for the State meeting that District 9 hosts.

New Business: Leo read a Thank you from Bev and Harley. Jon reported that he delivered “In Memory Of” patches to the family of Mike Boyer. Our condolences were expressed to Chris on the loss of her sister. Janet reported that plans are underway for the District 9 Casino Night, which is Oct. 9th. Still need items for the auction. The next committee meeting is Sept. 24th at Z’s Club in McPherson at 7pm. Still need items for the Kansas Basket for Mid-South MILE. Items are needed by or at the next State meeting. Mike reported that the Marion Co. Toy Run will again start at Willy J’s bowling lanes, 131 South Thorp Street in Marion and travel to the American Legion in Hillsboro. Staging is at noon.

August

The District 9 meeting was called to order at 1:06 pm at the Old Mill Park in Lindsborg, on Aug. 8th, with 31 members, 6 Co. Reps., and 3 guests present. A moment of silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

No State News to report.

Awareness Report: We have 2 highway signs that need to be delivered.

Products Report: Have t-shirts, yard signs, and bumper stickers. A motion was made, seconded, and carried to order more Awareness patches. Karen thanked those who ran the products booth at the district bike show in their absence.

Website Report: Kevin reported that the website is updated.

Old Business: Rally For A Cause was again a big success. Bill thanked all who helped. Membership secretary will start adding a self addressed, stamped envelope to the membership reminders. Larry reported that there were 45 bikes in the District 9 Bike Show and he thanked all who helped. We will order in memory of “Cowboy” patches. Mike has ordered material for the Toy Run buttons.

New Business: District voted to continue with ads in the Thunder Roads magazine. Janet reported that the next Casino Night committee meeting will be Aug. 20 at their house. Discussed getting the district Dunk Tank to the Labor Day Rally. Ron reminded everyone that District 9’s work weekend at Perry is the 21st & 22nd. A motion was made, seconded, and carried to buy the secretary a laptop. Kevin is looking into pricing. District 9 Board elections are this year. All positions are up for election this year with the District Rep., the Secretary, and the Member at Large being elected for a 2 year term, and the Assistant District Rep., and Treasurer’s positions being for a 1 year term this year. In 2011 the last 2 positions will again be up for elections for a 2 year term after that, so that we will have staggered elections. Nominations for District Board are as follows:

JULY

The District 9 meeting was called to order on July 11, 2010 at 1:04pm at the Lyons VFW. There were 29 members, 6 Co. Reps., and 4 guests present. A moment of silence was observed and The Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

Awareness Report: Tony reported that the highway Awareness sign is now up in Peabody. He thanked all who helped. We do have one more completely ready to be put up.

Products Report: Karen reported that the new Support Our Troops tanks and T-shirts are in. Still have bumper stickers and yard signs left. Bill McMillan made and donated hitch covers with the Motorcycle Awareness bumper stickers on them. They look great and started selling quickly. Proceeds go to District 9’s Motorcycle Awareness program.

Website Report: Kevin reported that he has added pictures of River City Blowout to the website and has several pictures and video to add of Run For Our Elders poker run. He has added a link to a video of Rolling Thunder from this year and encouraged everyone to check it out.

Old Business: Tony reported on the Run For Our Elders. There were 25 bikes this year. Several residents at the nursing homes got to take rides on the bikes and this year at our first stop 2 bikes went in to the nursing home, so that residents could sit on them and get their pictures taken. The poker run was again a success and Tony thanked all who participated and helped. River City Blowout was a great success. Everyone really likes the new location. Anyone interested with helping next year, committee meetings will start in January. Messy reminded everyone that donations are needed for the basket for Mid South MILE.

New Business: Mid South MILE is in Sherman, TX this year on Oct.15-17. Everyone is encouraged to attend this. It is a great learning experience. Nominations for District 9 board members was opened. It is good to see that we have more people accepting nominations this year. Nominations were closed. Bill reported that everything is pretty much ready for Rally For A Cause which is July 23-25th. Larry reported that anyone wanting to help set up for District 9’s Bike Show needs to be at M&M Choppers this Friday around 4pm. Keena reported on the Salute to American Veterans Rally at Cripple Creek, Colo., this Aug. 20-22. District 9 made a donation to help with feeding the vets during the rally. We also sent out a challenge to the other districts and state to also help with this. Jon reminded everyone that this is an election year and encouraged everyone to attend any town hall meetings to learn how different candidates feel about issues that are important to you. District 9 gave their condolences to Kevin and Steve and their families on their loss of loved ones. Janet reported that the first committee meeting for the District 9 Casino Night will be July 30th at Janet and Rick’s. Sandy has resigned as membership secretary due to work conflicts and Janet has accepted the position. Membership agreed. Thanks to the Lyons VFW and Al and Keena for hosting us and the great food.

JUNE

Awareness Report: Discussed locations for the highway signs that we have done, and now have angle iron to use for the frames for the rest.

Products Report: Karen reported that the new t-shirts were ordered and should be in soon and that we have yard signs and bumper stickers left.

Website Report: Kevin reported that pictures from the recent events are posted and that the website is updated.

Old Business: Russ reported that River City Blowout was a great success and the final meeting will be at Russ and Myrna’s for all committee members and anyone else interested with helping out next year, on July 3rd. Bring a covered dish. The District will get name badges for all of the county reps. Messy is taking donations to give to Sis for the Mid South MILE. If you have anything to donate, please bring it to next meeting or two. Tony gave a Thank You to everyone that turned out to meet the F-troop in Salina on their way through on the Run For The Wall. These guys are great and it was good to see so many of our membership show up. Tony reported that everything is ready for Run For Our Elders next Saturday. Larry reported that plans for the District 9 Bike Show are going great. Messy reported that one of District 9’s life members passed away. Our sympathy goes out to Mike “Tiny” Boyer’s family. A motion was made, 2nd and passed to order In Memory Of Tiny patches. Bill reported that plans are well underway for Rally for a Cause.

New Business: Elections for District 9 board members are this year, and nominations started today. Door Prizes were won by Cathy, Pat, and Messy.

MAY

The District 9 meeting was called to order on May 9, 2010 at 1:15 pm at Bob and Juanita’s in Delphos. There were 25 members, 4 Co. Reps., and 5 guests present. A moment of silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

State News: See state report.

Awareness Report: Tony reported that we got the Awareness highway sign up for Sis. We have 2 more sets ready to go, and 15 more signs ready. Need angle iron to complete them. There are 2 of ABATE’s Awareness billboards up also. The governor did sign the May is Motorcycle Awareness Month proclamation as did several mayors throughout the state.

Products Report: The new T-shirts are in and several are already sold. A motion was made and seconded to order a variety of T-shirts and women’s tank tops. Motion passed.

Website report: Kevin has added some new flyers to the website and everything is updated. The district’s website continues to have about 1000 unique hits per month.

Old Business: Russ reported that everything is ready for River City Blowout. Tony reported that Taco Tico in McPherson is having a fundraiser this coming Thursday to benefit the Run For Our Elders. Most of the pledges for sponsorship have been turned in. Kevin reported that things are well underway for the Dist. 9 Bike Show. Janet also added that items for the swap meet at the bike show will be sold with proceeds going to Motorcycle Awareness. Leo and Tony reminded everyone that Run For the Wall is May 23rd. As many people that can, please come to show our support to these vets. Leo expressed everyone’s congrats to Juanita for her graduation and completion of her BSN.

New Business: The Dunk Tank has already been rented once this season. Tony reminded everyone that the district does have a Pop-A-shot. We will see if this can be rented out also. Door prizes were won by Bob, Ron, Janet, Sandy, Karen, Leo, and Art. The next district meeting is in Concordia at the Cloud County Fairgrounds. From highway 81 turn east on 6th street to Industrial, turn south. Awareness Report: Tony reported that we had a great turnout for the last paint party for painting Awareness hiway signs. Have one complete set ready to go, and to finish up on the rest. Next paint party is this coming Friday, the 16th at Russ and Myrna’s. We will need to get some more angle iron for the rest. He gave a big Thank You to all who helped.

Products Report: Karen reported that the new, In Support of Our Troops, T-shirts have been ordered. They are still taking orders on hoodies as needed, and we still have long sleeve T-shirts available.

Website report: Kevin reported that all is updated. Leo said that at the State meeting, he had several people say that they liked the Dist. 9 Motorcycle Awareness video.

Old Business: Tony gave the district’s condolences to our members, Janet and Rick Baise, and Bob and Juanita Borell for their loss of loved ones. Jon reported that the American Vets Traveling Tribute will be in Concordia May 5-9th. Larry gave a report on the Dist. 9 Bike show.

New Business: Mike reported that MCDS in McPherson will be having a poker run on June 12. They will give away a 2010 Dyna Super Glide with a custom paint job. Russ encouraged everyone to attend River City Blowout this year, should be a lot of fun! It will be Memorial weekend at a new location. See flyer. The Solomon Valley Eagle Riders “Rain or Shine” poker run will be April 24 starting in Beloit. They also will be having “Rally for a Cause” July 23-25th near Beloit, to benefit medical and related costs for Hannah Thomas. Tony reported that Run For Our Elders, June19th, will be the poker run only. There will be a bigger payout this year. Larry reported that he will be participating in McPherson’s Relay for Life Event. A donation was made to that event by passing the hat and a donation from the district. Tony reminded everyone of Run For The Wall coming through Salina on May 23rd, and we will again provide support for F-Troop who continues to stop in Salina. The next district meeting will be at Bob and Juanita’s in Delphos. Door Prizes were won by J.R., Art, Mike, Pam, Dave, and Bill. Thanks to Rita and Mike for hosting us.

The District meeting was called to order on March 14, 2010 at 1:15 pm at the Loose Brick in Halstead. There were 34 members, 7 Co. Reps., and 2 guests present. Awareness Report: Tony said that the ad in Thunder Roads Magazine looks great! Will have a paint party for the Awareness highway signs in addition to committee meeting for Run For Our Elders at Russ and Myrna’s this coming Friday the 19th. Everything to start at about 6pm.

Website Report: Kevin reported that in past year the Dist. 9 website has had approximately 1,000 unique hits per month. Kevin has gotten the Dist. 9 video of “You didn’t see me” on the website a couple of weeks ago. He thanked everyone who participated.

Products Report: Karen reported that we still have long sleeve T-shirts, and patches available. She is still taking orders on hoodies and ordering as needed. Discussed ideas on a new T-shirt. Motion was made, seconded, and approved to order these in support of our troops.

Old Business: Leo gave a report on progress of plans for River City Blowout. Sounds like it will be a great time. Leo also said the the Beloit Eagle Riders are having their annual benefit on July 23-25th. John encouraged everyone to attend. The District 9 Bike Show is July 17th. Larry is the chairperson and he is hosting the next committee meeting at his house on the 25th of March. They already have a couple of new trophy sponsors lined up. Mike reported that MCDS is having a poker run on June 12th, in McPherson. They will be giving away a 2010 Dyno Super Glide with a custom paint job.

New Business: A motion was made and seconded to order more of the In memory of Newland Koehn patches. Motion carried. Tony reminded everyone of Run For The Wall, on May 23rd. Upcoming events: District 9 meeting for April has been changed to Marion County Lake at the Lake Hall. Note change of usual meeting place at Marion Co. Lake. There will be signs posted.

Feburary

The District 9 meeting was called to order on Feb. 14, 2010 at the Dry Dock at Kanopolis Lake. There were 30 members, 7 Co. Reps., and 2 guests present. A moment of Silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

State News: Chris had updates, see the lobbyist report. The Jackie Sue Award was given to Mark Estrada. Sis needs items for the Kansas basket for Mid South MILE in October. The March State meeting will begin at 11am in Dodge City. See state news for other updates.

Awareness Report: Ron reported that KDOT has ordered more Awareness yard signs and bumper stickers.

Products Report: Karen is putting in the order for hoodies tomorrow. Still have long sleeve T-shirts available.

Website Report: Kevin has taken all of the 2008 pictures off of the website. Will be working on the Awareness video as soon as possible, so everyone that volunteered, please get with Kevin.

Old Business: River City Blowout will be in a different location this year, near Wichita. There will be more space and showers will also be available. Ron reported that ABATE’s hospitality room had a lot of visitors this year at Kansas Days.

New Business: Tony reported that the first committee meeting for Run For Our Elders will be on Feb. 25th at 7 pm at Tony and Janet’s in Galva. The Eagle Riders Annual rally benefit will be July 22-23rd. ABATE Dist. 9 will again co-sponsor. Kevin reported that the Dist. 9 Bike Show is scheduled for July 17th at M&M Choppers in Galva. Tony reminded everyone that the Run For the Wall will be coming through May 23rd, everyone is encouraged to participate in welcoming them through Kansas, and welcoming and supporting F-Troop in Salina.

January

The District 9 meeting was called to order on Jan. 10, 2010 at Russ and Myrna’s in Galva. There were 32 members, 5 Co. Reps., and 2 guests present. A moment of silence was observed and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and approved.

State News: There will be a drawing in June for the Texas basket from the Mid South MILE. ABATE’s hospitality room will be for both Friday and Saturday at Kansas Days in Topeka. See State News.

Awareness Report: Tony had nothing new to report.

Products Report: Karen still has T-shirts and will order more of the hoodies, if anyone wants one.

Website Report: Kevin will be taking down the 2008 pictures soon.

Old Business: Janet presented a plaque to J.T. for appreciation of his hard work and dedication to Motorcycle Awareness. Keena gave a big Thank You to all who helped with the McPherson County Toy Run.

New Business: Art and Melanie with Thunder Roads Magazine were present and wanted ideas for the publication. Discussed needed repairs for the District 9 dunk tank. Discussed River City Blowout and committee members are needed. Tony encouraged anyone that is able to be in Salina for Run For The Wall in May. This is a great event and the F-troop are a great bunch of guys.
