On Feb. 12, 2011, Dist. 9 meeting was held @ Deb & J R’s in Galva, Ks.

Moment of Silence observed and Pledge of Allegiance recited. There were 28 members  with

5 Co. Reps. and 2 guests present.

The Sec. report was given and approved.  The Treas. Report was given and approved.

State News: we need to work on getting some new members, both in ABATE and MRF; Mid South Mile’s theme will be a Kansas one, somewhere in Mo. 2011;yard signs were also discussed.

Kansas Days was a huge success and planning on Washington Days to be also.  Our Lobbyists are doing

A fine job and discussion on Bill’s 2158 ,Dead Red and 2199 Right of Way were heavily discussed.

Policy and Procedure book had a couple of changes to it. 

Flags and banners can be ordered by the Districts or individually.

Awareness report: May is Motor Cycle Awareness Month and will be getting more signs out.

Products report: Karen still has a lot of everything left.

Website report: nothing to report, Kevin keep up the great job!

Old Business: River City Blow-out  still in planning, meeting on 2-21-11 @ 7pm, Newton Am . Legion

New Business: Janet will provide fruit for Washington days to Sis; anyone planning to attend the two day event, same applies as for Ks. days with gas & hotel receipts.

House Bill 2003 to rename a section of Hwy 18 to Donald Ross. Hat passed and donation given to he[p

 with costs.

Karen Mc. Received the Stroker award. Dave won the 50/50. Next meeting will be March 13, Dry Dock, in Kanopolis.

March 13, 2011 ABATE Dist. 9 Meeting was held at Dry Dock, Kanopolis, Ks. With 19 members, 9 Co. Reps and 3 Guests present.

A moment of Silence and the Pledge of Allegience was observed before the meeting.

State News: Janet reported that the State will buy 2 big billboards sponsored by Briggs since May is Motor Cycle Awareness be Month. Bill 2058-seat belt Bill discussed along with Dead Red bill at St Level.

On April 22, planned to sign May as Awareness month by a Proclamation at the St. level.  The Cheese Cutter’s around the St. was discussed in Ks. City and there will no news ones erected but the old ones will not be torn  down.

The Road sign @ 56 Hwy and Plum Rd will be redone ASAP and put back up. Mike S. has a small bike to be erected atop the Peabody sign.  Motor cycle fatalities are down due to the training that is ongoing in the State.

Awareness report: Tony reported that Dist 15 wants to put up 3 more signs; there are some of the Road signs in the State that are light up. Thomas sign co. has locations for new signs in the state. Motions made & 2nd for a sign in McPherson to be put up.

Products report: Karen still has a lot of everything  for sale.

We will have Yard signs from KDOT at next month’s meeting with Abate logo on them to differentiate between signs bought and ones given by them.

Web site: is all up-dated with over 110 hits from visitors from June 2010 and Feb. 2011.

Two guest from KW were there from the Marketing class with a project concerning Liberia and needing some door prizes for the3ir project. Motion made and carried to donate t-shirts, stickers and signs for them.

A Poker run for the Cause will be April 9th with 4 stops for Mitchell co. in Beloit. Dist 9 donated shirts, hitch’s and road signs for this, motion made & carried.

Old Business: Janet B. has been doing a great job with  memberships  and renewals with a membership Challenge from Janet M. for the most new members signed up.

Ron V. discussed Labor Day Rally that everyone is to make sure if you are planning to work, it is up to YOU to sign up, including your drive time, on work week-ends and during the Rally to get credit for your 12 hours worked. Dist 15  and other dist. to man the Main Gate.

New Business: March 24th is next meeting for the April 23rd event @ Z’s club., at Kevin & Karen’s @ 7pm.

April 16 meeting @ Bill’s , 7pm in Beloit for Rally for a Cause July 22,23 & 24th. Motion carried to provide Ins. for them.

Meeting in June has been changed from Marion Lake to Josoth Truck.

Membership is down for the Dist. so there is a challenge from Janet M. from now till Aug. meeting for a prize to the one who signs up the most members, and the Dist will match her challenge. Let’s get busy!

April

Dist. 9 meeting for April 10, 2011 was held in Concordia at the Airport Park.

A moment of Silence was observed followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 18 members, 5 Co.

Reps. and 1 guest present. 

The Sec. report was waived as the laptop was not there.

The Treasurers report was given and paperwork passed around for approval, along with the financial report.

State News: the Lobbyist report concerning the Dead Red Bill going through and waiting for the Governor to sign it.  MRF memberships are down for the year, and the phone # to contact the switch-Board was given out.  The fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $10.00 except for minors which will be higher with no court costs added to the fine.

The Mile will be the 4th weekend in Oct. in Joplin, Mo. at the Holiday Inn.  The Mile still needs items for the Mile Basket.

ABATE is looking for someone to be the Historian to gather memorabilia and photos  from the past about the beginning of the organization which tri-folds can then be made and handed out. If anyone is interested, let their district know.

Awareness report: the sign at Plum road has been replaced. May is Awareness month and district’s should let their City Council’s know to announce it. The Proclamation has been sent to the Capitol for their approval.

Products report: a lot of merchandise on hand except tank tops and t-shirts. Motion made and approval was given for Karen to order 25 more of each. Ideas are needed by next meeting for some money making projects. Everyone be thinking!

Website report: everything is updated with Washington and Ks. Days included along with a flyer from Run for the Elders.

Old Business: River City Blowout cleanup will be May 21st, and everyone is encouraged to bring mowers and weed eaters with you.  The Dunk Tank is already being rented out.

New Business: Run for Elders being planned and talk of a slide-show being shown at the start of the run of past Runs. Sponsorships are still being collected. The next meeting will be May 12th at Tony and Janet’s @ 7pm.  There will be a breakfast before the Bike show at the Country Café this year. Run for the Wall is May 22nd on the Halstead Bridge west on I70. All are encouraged to attend!! Next weekend, Beloit will be having their Rain or Shine poker run, come join in the fun! 

Next meeting will be May 15th in Delphos @ Bob & Juanita’s place.

SEC REPORT WAS GIVEN AND APPROVED. THE TREAS. REPORT WAS GIVEN AND PAPERWORK PASSED AROUND AND THIS WAS APPROVED,

STATE NEWS: SENATOR ARMBURGER TALKED ABOUT THE DEAD RED BILL, THE RIGHT OF WAY BILL IS IN THE JUDICIAL COMM. THIS YEAR, MRF “HR904” DISCUSSED, AND MRF ABLE TO BORROW MONEY FOR EDUCATIONAL USE.  THIS IS THE 20TH YEAR FOR THE MILE WHICH STILL NEEDS ITEMS FOR THE BASKET. THE MILE IS IN JOPLIN, MO OCT. 21-23 @ THE HOLIDAY INN WITH THE DIST. DONATING $100 TO THE MILE TO HELP DEFRAY COSTS.

THE STATE WILL PAY TOLL CHARGES IN TOPEKA FOR THE “RUN FOR THE WALL.”

AWARENESS REPORT;  CLOUD CO SIGNED THE PROCLAMATION FOR MAY AS MOTOR CYCLE AWARENESS MONTH, AND THE MOTOR CYCLE WAS DELIVERED TO PEABODY TO BE SET ATOP THE SIGN SOON.

OLD BUSINESS: STILL CHECKING ON CALENDARS AND WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FOR THE DISTRICT.

RUN FOR THE WALL IS MAY 22ND AND ONCE AGAIN WE WILL BRING SIDE DISHES AND MEAT WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE DIST. @ THE PARK.

RIVER CITY BLOW-OUT CLEAN-UP IS SAT., WITH MEETING @ 2PM AT THE PARK.  RUN FOR THE ELDERS-THE DIST. WILL DONATE $100 FOR THIS AND NEXT MEETING WILL BE 22ND AT CANTON’S POST WITH THEIR POST DONATING MONEY, THE RUN WILL BE JUNE 18TH AT HANKS AND WILL BE SAME ROUTE AS LAST YEAR.

District 9 meeting was held in Hillsboro @ 56 Customs on June 12, 2011 with a Moment of Silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance being recited. There were 17 members, 4 Co. Reps and 4 guests present. The Sec. report was given, with the correction of Marion as the location of next meeting, should have been Hillsboro.  Treasurer’s report was given and passed around, then approved.

State News: Lobbyist reports that our Reps. are not in session at this time but they will be keeping up on State activities as they occur. Don reported that the rally site is under water and will need a lot of cleaning up and clearing once it dries up, so everyone is encouraged to help with this on work weekends. Contact Ron V. for Security sign ups and Kelly G. for Main Gate. MRF membership is down and Ed Martin. gave a challenge to help with signing up new members. The Seat Belt law was discussed and the new fines will take effect July 1, 2011. If anyone can, bring the Big Plastic type trash containers to Perry to help defray extra trash pile- up at your camp sites.

Run for the Wall was once again a huge success with about 480 in attendance.

Awareness Report: May is “Click-it or Ticket” month as well as Motor Cycle month. KDOT will be purchasing more yard signs. There will be more Tri-folds and bumper stickers ordered. The Motor Cycle will be placed on the sign in Peabody soon.

Products Report: T-shirts are in and Karen will p/k Monday.

Web site: There are about 120 visits per month with everything up-dated.

Old Business: River City blow-out was a big success again with a final meeting on the 25th for ending report at Russ W’s. around 6p.m.  A motion was made and approved to purchase a Gift Certificate from Menard’s and tickets to be sold till Casino Night. Run for the Elders is going good and will start @ Hanks Place, McPherson, leaving at noon, June 18th.

New Business: Casino Night is in the works with Janet M and Karen M. chairing it.

Nominations made for Treas. and Asst. Rep. made. More next month for these 2 positions; be thinking of someone who would be good for these positions.  Thors Roar is June 25th in Lindsborg and Kevin will have products booth set up. Bill Dutton, of Hillsboro, wants a sign put up @ his place. Jon P.  will find out if a Fire Truck will be available to the Dist. and how much.

The meeting was called to order at 1:23pm on July 10th, 2011 at the VFW in Lyons Ks.  A moment of silence for our fallen brother and sisters, and our military was observed and the pledge of allegiance was given.  There were 13 members, 3 county reps and 2 guests present.

     The secretary’s report was read and approved as written.

     The treasurer’s report was given and approved as well.

     Awareness report:  No report as Tony was not present at the meeting.

     Products Report:  Karen reported that there are still lots of T-shirts available and that she will have them set up at the Bike Show next weekend.

     Website:  District 9 still has an average 120 unique hits to our site each month.  The website is updated except pictures and videos from Run for Our Elders, still waiting on releases from the participating homes.

     Old business:  A brief report was given on River City Blowout.  Both districts came out OK.  District 9 was named as a memorial for John Reed.  Janet M. is still working on the tickets for our fund raiser.  Run for Our Elders report was given, there were 22 bikes in this event including many new faces.  A report was given as to the amount that each home received.  Kevin reported that the bike show is next weekend and that all the plans have been made.  He reported on a new idea to draw more bikes off the street and into the show.

     New business:  Janet reported that John and Linda Buster (he is the McPherson County rep) suffered a fire at their home last night.  We passed to hat to help out and the district donated more to the fund.  A motion was made and seconded to order 25 memory patches for Scott.  Mike will order and pick them up when they are done.  Janet reported that the sale of “Z’s” club has been completed and that Ruth Ann donated several items that were left in the club to the district to be used as needed for auction items, door prizes etc.   A motion was made and seconded to donate to the Veterans Rally in Colorado again this year, which was passed.

     The next meeting is Aug 14th at Pam and Tracey’s.  Reminder of work weekends at Lake Perry.  The District work weekend is the 20th and 21st of August.  Drawing was won by Art Barnett.

The meeting was called to order at 1:34 PM August 14, 2011, with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence observed.   There were 15 members, 3 guests and 3 county representatives present,

                The secretary’s report was waived, as Pat was absent.

                The treasurer’s report was given and accepted.

                State News: None, as the state meeting is next weekend.

                Awareness Report:  Tony has been in contact with Mike Johnson in Nickerson, and the district will try to get to his place of business after Perry to paint the awareness sign on the side of his shop.

                Products Report:  Still have lots of T-shirts available.  A motion was made and seconded to order more “Awareness” patches.  Motion carried.

                Website Report:  Kevin reported that the website is all updated, and is still waiting on more pictures from Rally for a Cause.

                Old Business:  Janet M gave a report on the benefit that was held for John and Linda Buster, and also reported on Rally for a Cause.  The Eagle Riders are planning a poker run at Simpson to add to what was raised at Rally for a Cause.  Janet M. Reported that the tickets for the drawing and are available for members to begin selling.  A discussion was held in reference to a lawsuit against a district member’s business, donations were collected to help defray his cost. Kevin gave a report on the bike show as well.

                New Business:  A report was given by Traci Garibaldi about Trevor Tillett, he was injured in an accident in July.  A fund raiser has been set for next Tuesday at the “Taco Tico” in McPherson to help offset medical and travel expenses for his family.  A reminder was given that next weekend is the district’s work weekend at Perry, and the State meeting is Saturday afternoon.  Again this year the district will pay by receipt for fuel for those that go to Perry to work. Janet B. won the new membership challenge put out by Janet M.  The first meeting for Casino Night is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Aug. 26th at Tony and Janet’s, anyone willing to help is welcome.  A motion was made and seconded to provide a membership to Derek Fairbank for all he has done so far for the district.

District 9’s Sept. 11 meeting was held at TPJ’s with an extra moment of silence to observe the day’s 10th anniversary followed by the Pledge of Allegience.

There were 20 members , 5 Co. Reps, and 1 guest at the meeting.

Sec. Report.  was  read and approved.  Treas. Report was also given with no corrections.

State News:  was a short meeting and reported about 4400 in attendance this year at the Rally in Perry.

Remember that Elections are in Nov. so, please vote!!!  This year, the campgrounds were very well cleaned up, compared to past years after the Rally.

Awareness Report: Tony M. was absent, so will have a report next month. It was mentioned though, that Nickerson and Geneseo still need their signs painted.

Products Report: Karen still has t-shirts and awareness patches.

Web Site: updated except for Rally for the Cause and Perry.

Old Business: Barb T. says that Trevor is steadily improving and doing ok. The Dunk Tank was very successful this year at Perry.  A motion was made and 2nd to use Dunk Tank $$ to purchase  the meal for the State meeting in Nov. in Mac. The rules and regulations for the Dunk Tank were also discussed and the “ 1 person”  at a time on the seat will still be in effect. The rule is in the contract already.

Casino Night is still going well as planned, we need help and the next meeting will be in Lindsborg at the Old Mill this Sunday at NOON, the 18th of Sept.!! Bring items for auction and give-away then.

New Business: the  Eagle Riders Toy Run is Nov. 19 in Beloit. Cloud Co. Toy Run is Oct. 1st. The Dist. will pay Insurance fee this year instead of donating $$ for each Toy Run. McPherson’s Toy Run will be Nov. 26th in Mc Pherson  and  Marion Co.’s Toy Run will be Nov. 5th.

Thunder Roads will place the ads in the magazine of the Runs.

Up-Coming Events: Casino Night meeting-Sept. 18 @ Old Mill park in Lindsborg,: Oct. 1st. is Cloud Co. Toy Run;  Oct. 8th is St. meeting in McPherson @ 10am  with Casino Night that eve. @ VFW ;  Oct 9th  with Dist.  meeting in McPherson at VFW usual time.

Mid South Mile in Joplin, Mo. is Oct. 22-25, 2011.

Dist. 9 meeting for October 09, 2011 was held in McPherson at the VFW.

A moment of Silence was observed followed by the Pledge of Allegience. There were 14 members, 5 Co.

Reps. and 5  guests  present .  The  Sec.  report  was given with 1 correction : the Mid South Mile dates are  Oct 21- 23 in Joplin , Mo.

The Treasurers report was given and paperwork passed around for approval, along with the Financial report.

State News: the  Lobbyist’s  were not present .  MRF memberships are  down , and there will be a meeting in Eudora,, Ks on Oct. 18  to discuss loud pipes, cheese cutters and memberships. Everyone is urged  to attend! Also, the Labor Day Rally was discussed. Yard  Signs brought back for distribution.

Remember, Nov. is election month. Get your ballots in!

Awareness report: the sign in Nickerson still needs to be completed.

Products report:  tank tops and t-shirts on hand and some bumper stickers.  Hoodies  will be ordered if you let Karen or Kevin know  what size you need and they will have prices at next meeting, along with License tags discussion.

Old Business: Cloud Co. toy run was a huge success.  Marion Co. toy run is Nov. 5th at Willie J’s in Marion, Ks.  McPherson Co. toy run is Nov. 26 at Wal-Mart in McPherson, Ks.

Next meeting will be Nov. 13th in Galva, Ks. @ Tony and Janets.
